‘PUTTING INVESTORS FIRST’ 2015

CFA Societies Australia and New Zealand launched its annual ‘Putting Investors First’ (PIF) 2015 initiative on 4 May.

Throughout May, ‘Putting Investors First’ activities were held in more than 50 cities around the world by CFA societies representing more than 120,000 investment professionals.

Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland joined these societies to promote greater ethical standards across the global financial services industry, raise investors’ awareness of their rights and emphasise that all participants in the financial sector, globally and in Australia, should put investors first – a prerequisite for improving investors’ trust in the financial system.

CFA Societies Australia and New Zealand participated in a number of PIF activities including a visit by Mr Tony Neoh, who spoke to charter holders and other stakeholders on global regulation and the protection of investors.

CFA Societies Australia Presidents also signed a Letter to the Australian Federal Treasury outlining the need for individuals to personally pledge to ethical behaviour to ensure that we as investment professionals delivered on the expectations that investors deserved and rightfully expected of our industry.

‘Putting Investors First” is part of CFA Institute’s global Future of Finance initiative, a long-term effort to shape a trustworthy, forward-thinking financial industry that better serves society. The initiative aims to provide the tools to motivate and empower the world of finance to commit to fairness, improved understanding and personal integrity.
